Efficiency Maine’s program incentivizes participation in demand response events, where you strategically discharge your battery during peak demand periods.

Program Highlights

• Incentives: Participants are compensated based on the kilowatts of capacity discharged from their battery during demand response events. The program offers an incentive of $100 per kW discharged, up to 20kW, for each event.
• Eligibility: Both residential and small commercial participants in Maine are eligible to participate, provided they meet certain criteria such as having a battery storage system with a nameplate inverter capacity of no larger than 20kW.
• Enrollment: Enrollment in the initiative is simple and can be done online through the Efficiency Maine website. Participants are automatically re-enrolled annually unless they choose to opt out.
• Incentive Lock: Participants receive a locked-in incentive rate for the first three years of enrollment, ensuring stability and predictability in earnings.
• Events and Payments: Demand response events occur approximately 40 times throughout the summer season, and participants receive incentive payments annually in December for their performance during these events.
